hello world, I guess
so this is it. my first blog post. I've been telling myself I'd write something here for a while now but I kept getting distracted by other parts of the site. new effect here, another CSS tweak there. you know how it goes.
but I figured if I don't just start, this page is going to say "nothing here yet" forever. and that felt a little too on-brand.
so here's what's going on: I'm making a game called Sophie Stops the Sun. it's about a girl who makes a deal with the sun so she doesn't have to move away. there are bugs -- like actual insects -- and they have a whole civilization. it's emotional and weird and I care about it a lot.
I also built this site from scratch. no templates, no frameworks. just HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. it's hosted on Neocities because I like the idea of having a little corner of the internet that's actually mine. not an algorithm, not a feed -- just a place.
I got diagnosed with autism recently. it's one of those things that reframes a lot of stuff you already knew about yourself but didn't have the words for. and one of the things it made clearer is why places like this matter to me. small corners of the internet where people just make things and share them -- no engagement metrics, no performance. just people being themselves in a space they built. that's always been where I feel most at home.
I don't know how often I'll post here. probably whenever something feels worth writing about. could be game stuff, could be site updates, could be something completely different. we'll see.
thanks for being here. seriously. if you're reading this, you probably clicked through a few pages to get here, and that means something.
